SELENIUM, COBALT AND OTHER ELEMENTS IN PLASMA FROM PATIENTS WITH ACUTE MYOCARDIAL-INFARCTION

We have measured concentrations of V, Se, Ca, Fe, Mg, Br, Cs, Co, Du, Ni, Sn and Zn in plasma from 27 men who had sufferred acute myocardial infraction within the previous 12 hours and from 30 controls. Plasma selenium concentrations were lower in the myocardial infarct group but there was considerable overlap in the concentrations in the two group s. The relationship of selenium concentrations with the concentrations of other elements and with die plasma lipids are discussed.
