Bu. Runge et al., INDUCED MAGNETIC HYPERFINE FIELD AT AG SITES NEAR AN FE(100) AG(100) INTERFACE/, Physical review letters, 79(16), 1997, pp. 3054-3057
A magnetic hyperfine field induced at Ag sites near the interface betw
een a Ag(100) crystal and an epitaxially grown bcc Fe(100) film has be
en measured with monolayer resolution. Utilizing perturbed-angular-cor
relation spectroscopy with In-111 probes a magnetic hyperfine field in
the first atomic Ag layer is found to be strongly reduced relative to
the Fe bulk value and decreases very quickly as a function of distanc
e from the interface. For both sides of the interface the temperature
dependence is well described by a T-3/2 spin-wave behavior; however, i
t is strongly enhanced on the nonmagnetic side.
