Abstract
We have observed saturated absorption of the nu(1) + nu(3) band of (C2 H2)-C-13 using an extended cavity laser diode and an erbium doped fibe r amplifier. These narrow lines are very promising candidates for wave length/frequency standards in the 1550 nm region (the optical communic ation band). We also discuss the possibility of making a working stand ard in this wavelength region using a Fabry-Perot cavity cell. (C) 199 7 Elsevier Science B.V.
