Abstract
Xiphinema waimungui n. sp. from native forest in the North Island, New Zealand, is distinguished from many Xiphinema spp. by having two equa l female genital branches, Z differentiation absent and tail short, co nvex-conoid. Females are 2.71-3.19 mn long, odontostyle 117-130 mu m a nd odontophore 65-75 mu m. Four juvenile stages are distingished; tail shape does not vary markedly. Males were not found. Longidorus waikou aitii n. sp. from a native forest remnant in the South Island, New Zea land, has a rather posteriorly positioned guide-ring, large female bod y size (>6 mm), a bluntly conoid lip region which is continuous with t he body contour and a bluntly rounded tail less than an anal body widt h long. No males and few juveniles were found. A dichotomous key is pr ovided to the seven species of longidorids currently known from New Ze aland.
