B. Champagnon et al., NITROGEN AND OXYGEN GUEST MOLECULES IN CLATHRATE HYDRATES - DIFFERENTSITES REVEALED BY RAMAN-SPECTROSCOPY, Journal of Raman spectroscopy, 28(9), 1997, pp. 711-715
N-2 and O-2 hydrates (clathrates) from a polar ice core (Vostok) were
analysed by high-sensitivity Raman microspectrometry. Three new lines
in the region of the stretching modes of N-2 and O-2 guest molecules w
ere observed and were interpreted by considering both small (5(12)) an
d large (5(12)6(4)) cages in type II clathrates, isotopic effects and
the possibility of double occupancy of the large cages. The isotopic e
ffect for N-2 and O-2 guest molecules in clathrates is demonstrated. (
