Abstract
A new type of polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) composite film h as been made by polymerizing the mixture of di-methacrylates, methacry lates containing various groups and E-7. It was found that the long ch ain alkyl and mesogenic groups in methacrylate monomers greatly affect ed the saturation and threshold voltages and response lime. The sharpn ess could be improved by addition of methacrylate monomers containing long chain alkyl and 4-butoxylbisphenyl based mesogenic group in appro priate ratios. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
