Abstract
The amorphous alloy forming abilities of mechanically alloyed Mg(Ni1-x Tx) (T=3d transition metals) were examined, and only the latter transi tion metals such as Fe, Co and Cu were found to form an amorphous sing le phase, for x=0.4. The Co-and Cu-substitution effects on the crystal lization temperatures indicated that the crystallization temperatures linearly increase/decrease in proportion to the concentration of the s ubstitutional Co/Cu. These phenomena were discussed by using a monovac ancy formation model for the transition metal sites. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
