Ya. Bykovskii et al., PHOTOPROCESSES ON THE SURFACE OF NANOPOROUS QUARTZ UNDER THE ACTION OF RESONANT LASER-RADIATION, Laser physics, 7(5), 1997, pp. 1063-1067
The interaction of resonant laser radiation with iodine molecules sorb
ed on the surface of nanoporous quartz is experimentally investigated.
The photodesorption of high-energy iodine molecules with an energy of
translational motion of 1.7 eV by 2.3-eV quanta is detected. Simultan
eously, we observed thermal desorption of J(2) with appreciably lower
kinetic energies and photodissociation of iodine on the surface of nan
oporous quartz. We arrive at a conclusion that the observed photodesor
ption with anomalously high rates proceeds through the formation of a
stable state of an adsorbate-surface complex corresponding to an excit
ed adsorbate molecule.
