A long-term monitoring of seven heavy metals [HM] in flesh-flies (Sarc
ophagidae) and their hosts (detritophagous earthworms and phytophagous
snails) in Austrian Alps near Lunz am See has been performed. The res
ults show the impact of individual heavy metals in selected habitats o
f different elevations. It shows that natural heavy metal impact in al
pine areas may be comparable to HM impact in habitats neighbouring HM
sources.
