Abstract
An original packing mode for ternary polymer helices is presented. It is a three-chain per (trigonal) unit-cell, frustrated structure based on isochiral helices with different azimuthal settings. Its two-dimens ional equivalent is the dual Kagome or diced lattice. This structure i s a viable model for the beta phase of isotactic polypropylene and may apply for phase I' of isotactic poly (1-butene) and for a superstruct ure of the alpha phase of syndiotactic polystyrene.
