Abstract
The preceding comment by J. V. Hollweg presents criticisms of a paper that had reported estimates of the damping rates of Alfven waves in th e presence of gravitational acceleration. Here we point out that there is actually significant overlap between the conclusions of the former and the latter. We agree with a new point raised by the comment conce rning up/down asymmetry of gravity damping.
