Polarized neutron tunneling measurements are reported, achieved by usi
ng simple and double thin film Ni-Co-Ni Fabry-Perot resonators operati
ng in the total reflection geometry in the polarized configuration. Du
e to the Zeeman magnetic interaction term in the cobalt layers mainly,
a spatial separation of the spin up and down states results. The Zeem
an tunneling splitting within such resonators can be exploited to prod
uce monochromatic and polarized neutron beams in the range of lambda g
reater than or equal to 10 Angstrom . (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
