The arrival in adult emergency consultation of adolescents under 18 ye
ars of age with a demand for hospitalization is constantly on the rise
. As a consequence of this state of affairs which was noted in a large
Parisian center for psychiatric emergencies, the authors have propose
d a type of reception, crisis intervention and possible hospitalizatio
n which is not just a last resort. They base the arguments of their st
udy on a review of the bibliography. This then permits the analysis of
a cohort of 160 adolescents admitted into the consultation during a o
ne year period. The study describes the type of reception, the accompa
niment, the motive for referral and the diagnosis derived from the Fre
nch Classification of Childhood and Adolescent Mental Troubles. In, th
is way, a proposition for reception and treatment can be made in secto
rs of non-specific emergency care on the condition that work designate
d as alternative work can be accomplished with the adolescents.
