Abstract
The non-astigmatic three-element cavity Ti:sapphire laser is attractiv e because of its simple and compact stable resonator structure. Analyt ical equations for Kerr nonlinear pulse-shaping strengths are derived by using the ABCD transfer matrix method, Both hard-aperturing and sof t-aperturing for effective Kerr-lens mode-locking are discussed. The d ependence of the mode-locking condition on cavity length is also addre ssed. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
