Abstract
A 4-triazolyl substituted pyrimidine nucleoside undergoes nucleophilic displacement with the sodium salts of amides and thiols at room tempe rature in 1,4-dioxane exclusively at the 4-position to provide a simpl e and efficient preparation of 4-N-acylated and 4-thiolated analogues, respectively.
