Abstract
The reaction rates of 2-nitrofluorobenzene with some amines in toluene and in dimethyl sulfoxide have been measured. The moderate autocataly tic behaviour, the small solvent effect and the absence of a kinetic s alt effect suggest a transition stale with a small charge separation, rather than the usual one resembling a zwitterionic intermediate.
