The origin of pulsation of the Sun with period P-0 approximate to 160
min is as yet unknown. Statistical treatment of data on the rotation o
f 43 ellipsoidal binary systems with P-orb < 7 days showed that the mo
st resonant (the most commensurable) frequency of these stars equals 1
04.6 +/- 0.6 mu Hz (at approximate to 3.4 sigma C. L.). This agrees we
ll with the frequency v(0) = P-0(-1) = 104.1601 +/- 0.000 mu Hz found
earlier in global solar oscillations, and also in: (1) pulsation frequ
encies of delta Sct stars and (2) in rapid variability of AGNs. These
findings thus strongly favour a cosmological interpretation of the 'ub
iquitous' 160-min periodicity.
