Abstract
Achlya diffusa (Harvey) T.W. Johnson in fish ponds in Thailand has bot h cylindrical and spherical sporangia. The cylindrical sporangia relea se the primary zoospores into a ball of cysts, the spherical sporangia release the primary zoospores directly, as motile cells, via exit tub es which are formed immediately prior to dehiscence. Sexuality is homo thallic and diclinous and the oogonium usually contains a single oospo re, which is centric in structure.
