We study theoretically vesicle locomotion. We show how adhesion may le
ad to vesicle propulsion. The problem is fully solved numerically and
an analytical solution is obtained in a perturbative scheme. The analy
tical result reproduces the numerical one. We provide an expression fo
r the drift velocity as a function of relevant parameters. We discuss
how a vesicle or a cell could establish itself this motion from physic
ochemical concepts, while its environment could be initially homogeneo
us. We suggest experimental protocols.
