A model for nonisothermal rapid dendritic growth in an undercooled all
oy melt is presented. Taking into account the finite speed of solute d
iffusive propagation the analytical solution for isoconcentrational ne
edle-like dendrites is obtained. A selection criterion for the dendrit
ic tip radius under local nonequilibrium conditions is found. The pred
ictions of the model are in qualitative and quantitative agreement wit
