Aging in the upper face becomes evident with a descent in the level of
the eyebrow and the appearance of wrinkles and furrows. These are a d
irect consequence of muscle dynamics, responsible for the multitude of
expressions so characteristic of humans. Satisfactory results of an a
esthetic facial procedure are obtained when signs of an operation are
undetectable and no anatomical landmarks have been altered. In the sen
ior author's personal approach to surgical rejuvenation of the upper f
ace, this involves blocking of the facial and cervical flaps when a rh
ytidectomy is associated with a brow lifting. This systematization, ca
lled the ''block lifting'' guarantees that all anatomical landmarks ar
e precisely preserved.
