Am. Nolan et al., A BENCHMARK MODEL FOR ANALYSIS OF ELECTRON-TRANSPORT IN NONCONSERVATIVE GASES, Journal of physics. D, Applied physics, 30(20), 1997, pp. 2865-2871
In support of studies to determine cross sections in ionizing gases us
ing swarm techniques, we have developed a set of statistically accurat
e transport parameters for a non-conservative model gas using Monte Ca
rlo simulation. Study of this model highlights the effects of non-cons
ervative collisions on electron transport in the absence of concerns o
ver the validity of any particular 'real' gas model and provides a ben
chmark model system that can be utilized in both Monte Carlo and Boltz
mann studies of gaseous electronics. A method of analysis is presented
which allows Monte Carlo simulation to separate the exact reactive an
d flux components of the measurable transport coefficient. The results
of the simulation are compared with a multi-term Boltzmann analysis.
