Abstract
This paper utilizes techniques from combinatorics to derive a closed f orm solution for an estimator of that portion of a Hirschman-Herfindah l index which measures concentration for that segment of the market wi th unattributed market share. This index makes more complete use of sa mple information than other more conventional measures of limited-info rmation market concentration like the C-4 and C-8 indices.
