Abstract
(-)-N-Dodecyl-N-methylephedrinium bromide (DMEB) was used as chiral su rfactant in capillary electrophoresis to separate the enantiomers of m ethaqualone. Apart from the chiral discrimination, reversal of electro osmotic flow (EOF) was observed which was attributed to the quaternary ammonium structure of the compound. The influence of pH and concentra tion of the surfactant on the chiral separation of methaqualone and th e EOF are described.
