B. Werffeli et al., THE METHODOLOGY OF INTEGRATED SYNUSIAL PHYTOSOCIOLOGY APPLIED TO A FLOODPLAIN SECTOR OF THE SARINE RIVER, SWITZERLAND, Global ecology and biogeography letters, 6(3-4), 1997, pp. 237-245
The diversity of the vegetation communities appearing in six floodplai
n sites of national importance along the Sarine River is presented. Th
e site of Rossens, which is the most diverse, has been chosen to apply
the methodology of the integrated synusial phytosociology which consi
ders several spatio-temporal organizational levels. The synusiae of se
ven phytocoenoses are described. Using floristic and ecological compar
isons, their integration in higher organizational levels (tesela, cate
na) is discussed.
