U. Saini et al., IMMUNODIAGNOSIS OF TOXOCARA-VITULORUM TISSUE-PHASE INFECTION IN BUFFALOS (BUBALUS-BUBALIS), Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 67(9), 1997, pp. 744-747
Double immunodiffusion (DID), bentonite flocculation (BF) and circumla
rval precipitin (CLP) tests were used for detecting tissue-phase Toxoc
ara vitulorum infection induced experimentally in buffaloes. Ail these
tests detected the antibodies against second stage larval somatic ant
igen up to 45 days post-infection (DPI). Being easy to perform and acc
urately interpretable, the DID was considered suitable for testing the
duration of antibody response in this study. BF test gave positive re
sults with the antiserum diluted up to 1:32 and the CLP test showed a
maximum titre of 1:8 at 14 DPI. The passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA
) with micro amount of antigen gave positive reaction even when the an
tiserum was diluted up to 1:16.
