Abstract
Cadmium concentration was determined in milk samples from cows and buf faloes reared around the localities of textile, metallurgical and petr ochemical industries. Milk samples from cows and buffaloes in industry free rural localities were also analysed. The mean cadmium concentrat ion in milk from industry free rural localities was 0.004+/-0.001 mu g /ml. The mean cadmium concentrations within 0-2.0 km vicinity of texti le, petrochemical and metallurgical industries were 0.008+/-0.001, 0.0 12+/-0.003 and 0.008+/-0.001 mu g/ml of milk which were significantly higher than the industry free rural localities.
