Abstract
3-Methyl-3-trimethylsilylcyclopropene (1) was prepared by reacting (Z) -3-trimethyisilyl-2-butenyl chloride (5) with sodium amide. This compo und (1) was converted to ,2-dibenzoyl-3-methyl-3-trimethylsilylcyclopr opene (2), a rare example of an isolable cyclopropene with two electro n withdrawing groups at the vinyl position, and the thermal isomerizat ion of 2 was probed.
