A numerical solution for the input impedance and radiation pattern of
an arbitrarily shaped, rotationally symmetric monopole antenna loaded
with dielectric material is presented. The antenna is mounted over eit
her an infinite or a finite ground plane. The excitation is assumed to
be due to a coaxial transmission line. Both the magnetic frill curren
t-source and the delta-gap voltage-source models are employed in the f
ormulations. Numerical data have been obtained and compared with exper
imental results and some published data. A conical antenna and a wire
antenna loaded with dielectric material are considered, and the effect
of the dielectric material and the ground plane size on the antenna i
nput impedance and radiation pattern is studied.
