Abstract
Temporal and spatial variability of atmospheric aerosol optical depth tau(a, lambda0) at lambda = 550 nm for european territory of former US SR is investigated. Background latitude values tau(a, lambda0) were ob tained and the influence of large industrial centers on atmospheric op tical depth is estimated. The influence of industrial factors on atmos pheric transparency was analyzed. The significant trends of tau(a, lam bda0) for industrial regions were evaluated.
