A linear method of analyzing quasi-reversible steady-state voltammogra
ms is presented. On the basis of it, an algorithm was formed which can
be used to calculate the kinetic parameters: standard rate constant (
k(o)), transfer coefficient (alpha), and formal potential (E-o'), reli
ably and precisely at the same time, from a straight line of a logarit
hmic function g(I,E) vs. E, which is similar to the conventional metho
d for the reversible or totally irreversible reactions. It can also be
used in analysis of steady-state EqC and EqC' voltammograms to obtain
the parameters mentioned above, together with the homogeneous reactio
n rate constant (k(c)). This algorithm avoids the problem of choosing
