Abstract
A comparative analysis of the biology of the mexican pinyon pines Pinu s cembroides Zucc. and Pinus johannis M.-F. Robert in the Mexican Plat eau is carried out. Similarities and differences in geographical and e cological distribution as a result of moisture limitations, mating sys tems, biotic interactions and chemistry of the oleoresins are emphasiz ed, as well as other aspects which should deserve consideration to enh ance the understanding of these taxa.
