Abstract
A one-pot preparation of t-butyl esters and ethers is described that p roceeds from the carboxylic acid or alcohol and t-butanol using only a nhydrous magnesium sulfate and catalytic sulfuric acid as additional r eagents. The method affords t-butyl esters and ethers in good yields a nd is applicable to a variety of substrates. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
