Kl. Langeland et al., IMPROVING STAFF PERFORMANCE IN A COMMUNITY MENTAL-HEALTH SETTING - JOB ANALYSIS, TRAINING, GOAL-SETTING, FEEDBACK, AND YEARS OF DATA, Journal of organizational behavior management, 18(1), 1998, pp. 21-43
Organizational behavior management techniques were utilized to improve
job performance among staff in a community mental health setting. Aft
er interviewing individual staff, job descriptions were clarified. The
n a package of feedback, goal setting and praise from supervisors was
presented in multiple baseline fashion across job tasks within an orga
nizational unit. For two of the three targeted tasks, implementation o
f this intervention package was followed by improvement and maintenanc
e of performance for more than two years. Costs were minimized and the
intervention components became part of the normal day-to-day operatio
ns of the agency.
