Yl. Wang et al., STUDIES ON THE MECHANISM OF DIMERIZATION OF ORGANOMERCURIC COMPOUNDS BY RHODIUM(I), Gaodeng xuexiao huaxue xuebao, 18(10), 1997, pp. 1624-1627
The kinetics of dimerization of beta-naphthylmercuric chloride in the
presence of [ClRh (CO)(2)](2) has been studied in hexamethylphosphoram
ide. The dimerization has been found to be second order and the kineti
c parameters of the dimerization have been reported. Both alpha-naphth
ylmercuric chloride and alpha-bromomercuriphenylacetate have not been
dimerized under the same reaction conditions, which has been explained
on the basis of the proposed mechanism. The organic rhodium(I) interm
ediate formed in the alpha-bromomercuriphenyl-acetate case was isolate
d and identified.
