Abstract
This review describes recent advances in the biology and epidemiology of the hepatitis E virus and the progress in vaccine approaches using recombinant technology and cell culture. New experimental models for t he hepatitis E virus pathogenesis and the role of animals as a possibl e reservoir for sporadic transmission of hepatitis E virus will be dis cussed.
