The trimetallic tetrahedrane complexes [MonW3-n(eta(5)-C5H5)(3)(CO)(6)
(mu(3)-P)] (n = 0-3) are oxidised in carbon disulfide solution by elem
ental sulfur to the corresponding mu(3)-PS complexes [MonW3-n(eta(5)-C
5H5)(3)(CO)(6)(mu(3)-PS)]; the new complexes lose the sulfur atom upon
standing in solution at room temp. to regenerate [MonW3-n(eta(5)-C5H5
)(CO)(6)(mu(3)-P)]; the X-ray crystal structure of [W-3(eta(5)-C5H5)(3
)(CO)(6)(mu(3)-PS)] is determined.
