Abstract
The present paper describes the Riemann package written in the Maple p rogramming language. The package has been developed for tensor compone nt calculations in General Relativity and for some tensor abstract man ipulations. It allows the user to perform tensor algebra operations, s uch as addition, multiplication and contraction of tensors. It is also possible to create new tensors with defined symmetries and to apply M aple functions to the tensor components. We give an example of an appl ication of the Riemman package using the Tomimatsu-Sato metric, and al so compare it to other Maple tensor packages. (C) 1997 Published by El sevier Science B.V.
