Abstract
Amygdaloid cysts, which are due to defective resorption of the cervica l sinus, manifest as lumps in the upper part of the lateral neck, Thei r architecture is reminiscent of that of the tonsils, Although amygdal oid cysts are considerably more common than cervical fistulas, they ca n be difficult to differentiate from other lesions, The diagnosis is u sually considered based on findings from a routine physical examinatio n in a young adult, Some cases are discovered in the wake of an ENT in fection, A definite diagnosis can be made by an ultrasound scan of the neck, which also shows the relations of the mass with the blood vesse ls. Infectious complications inevitably develop in the absence of trea tment. Elective surgery should be performed in every case.
