Abstract
We review recent results on random fragmentation of multidimensional o bjects. In addition to the obvious volume conservation, these processe s exhibit an infinite number of hidden conservation laws. The fragment size distribution is characterized by an infinite number of scales an d thus, exhibits multiscaling. Nevertheless, the volume distribution f unction shows ordinary scaling, i.e., it is characterized by a single scale.
