Abstract
We discuss the large scale effective free energy landscape for elastic objects pinned by a random potential, In the static approach, converg ing analytical results show that this landscape consists in a successi on of parabolic wells of random depth, matching on singular points whe re the effective force is discontinuous. We discuss the consequences f or the dynamics of these pinned interfaces.
