Abstract
Biological and any other self-reproducing systems belong to the nonequ ilibrium open systems that function on the basis of exchanging flows o f matter, energy, and information with the environment. The theory of nonequilibrium systems has been a paradigm in modem physics and chemis try, and the theory of destabilizing selection developed by D.K. Belya ev represents its reflection in biological sciences. The general conse quence of destabilizing selection is an increase in the degree of none quilibrium of a self-reproducing system in relation to the environment .
