3-D AVO migration/inversion is applied to data from the Oseberg field
in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The objectives of this study
were to consider the feasibility of AVO migration/inversion in 3-D, p
rototype the codes, and develop a preliminary 3-D methodology. All of
these objectives have been satisfactorily achieved. Interpretation of
the results show that AVO migration/inversion yields accurate litholog
y and fluid information and allows identification of new faults in the
reservoir zone.
