A high-order perturbative analysis of seismic attributes such as trave
l times, reflection coefficients and waveforms is presented. A number
of simple 1-D numerical examples have been performed for the constant
gradient and plane-layer velocity models. They confirm that the high-o
rder perturbations remove the sensitivity of the linearized methods to
the choice of the reference model and to the source-receiver position
s. Restrictions on velocity gradient and velocity contrast at the inte
rface implicit in the Born approximation are eliminated as well.
