Abstract
The paper examines the behaviour of the bushes in high pressure 'bush configuration' gear pumps. Experimental measurements of the clearances between the end-faces of the gears and the bushes are presented and a n analysis of the mechanism of lubrication is given, It is suggested t hat bush lubrication depends on the surface irregularities at the ends of the gears and on the non-flatness of the bushes.
