Reactions of a cyclic C7H6-system, a tautomer of 1,2,4,6-cycloheptatet
raene and 2,4,6-cycloheptatrienylidene, with N-(p-substituted phenyl)a
za-azulanones afforded two types of [4+2] type cycloadducts, where the
seven-membered ring moieties of the aza-azulanones played 4 pi electr
ons parts. The reactions were investigated with terms of MO calculatio
ns.
