M. Cornille et al., RADIATIVE AND AUGER DECAY PROBABILITIES, BRANCHING RATIOS AND FLUORESCENCE YIELDS OF THE BE-LIKE (1S(2)4 4/') DOUBLY-EXCITED STATES IN NE6+/, Physica scripta. T, T73, 1997, pp. 43-44
Radiative and Auger transitions energies, decay rates, Auger branching
ratios as well as fluorescence yields have been calculated for the Be
-like (1s(2)4l4l' doubly excited states in Ne6+. Th, calculations have
been performed in the intermediate coupling scheme. These extension t
heoretical results have been compared with our high resolution soft X-
ray and Auger electron electra arising from Ne8+ + He and Ne8+ + H-2 c
ollisions. The comparison of our experimental and data confirms that t
he 1s(2)4l4l states of the Ne6+ decay predominantly into the 1s(2)2p e
psilon l '' continuum, while the branching ratios associated with the
1s(2)2s epsilon 1 '' continuum are small. This is of fundamental impor
tance for the spectroscopic analysis and collision dynamics of double
electron capture processes, in particular for the Ne + H-2 collision s
ystem, where the 1s(2)4l4l' states are most populated.
