Abstract
Observations of electrodynamic and plasma effects in ionosphere above zones of imminent earthquakes are analyzed. Their possible correlation with physicochemical processes in the Earth's crust at the stage of e arthquake preparation is discussed. The basic characteristics of distu rbances are determined. A physical model of formation of plasma inhomo geneities in the ionosphere produced by quasi-steady electric fields o f tectonic origin is suggested.
