Abstract
The nad3-rps12 genes from Sorghum bicolor were cloned and sequenced. T he DNA sequence is very similar to known sequences from wheat or maize . Both genes are cotranscribed. A total of 17 RNA editing sites in nad 3 and six editing sites in rps12 were detected. Cotranscripts exhibit a low degree of RNA editing, which was the same in four different fert ile and cytoplasmic male sterile lines. In contrast to atp6 RNA editin g no cell-type specific loss of RNA editing was observed. (C) 1997 Els evier Science Ireland Ltd.
