The results of U-Pb zircon and Pb-Pb on minerals and whole rocks are r
eported on a charnockite syn-D1 from the Bandja series in the western
Cameroon. Data are interpreted as representing a plutonic emplacement
at 640 Ma. A syn- to post-tectonic pluton is dated at 557 +/- 8 Ma (Rb
-Sr whole rocks isochron). These results confirm the Pan-African age o
f the charnockitic intrusive body. Initial isotopic Sr-87/Sr-86 ratios
of charnockite (0.709) and granite (0.7089) show the importance of cr
ustal imprint in the magma genesis.
